Collaborating with Customers to Redesign the UI for a More Modern Severa Experience

Severa’s Product Manager Rasmus Pohjoiskoski is currently leading a major user interface (UI) redesign, which is one of the most significant steps forward in the product’s evolution. The goal is to create a more modern, accessible, and intuitive Severa that better serves both our customers and development team. This isn’t just a technical upgrade, it’s more like a journey, one that puts customer feedback and real-world needs at the heart of every stage.
In this blog, Rasmus shares why the redesign is being done, how customers are actively involved, and what makes a truly great user interface.
Meet Rasmus Pohjoiskoski – The Lead for Severa’s UI Redesign
Hi, I’m Rasmus Pohjoiskoski, Product Manager at Severa. I’m currently leading our user interface (UI) redesign, which is a major step forward in the evolution of our product. In this post, I want to share why this change matters, how our customers are actively shaping the outcome, and what I believe makes a truly effective user interface.
Before Severa, I spent nearly four years running a startup, which taught me the importance of rapid experimentation and keeping the customer at the heart of everything we do.
Over the years at Severa, I’ve worked in a variety of product roles and even helped pilot some of our AI-powered features. Today, my full focus is on reimagining the future of our user interface and doing it in close collaboration with our users.
Why We’re Redesigning the User Interface
There are three clear reasons behind this redesign:
- Modernizing the front-end technology: to ensure our product remains technically up-to-date and ready for future development.
- Making the product more modern and efficient : to streamline development and strengthen our competitive edge.
- Improving accessibility : to ensure Severa is easy and flexible to use, no matter the user or the need.
This redesign is for both our customers and our R&D team. It creates a stronger foundation that empowers our developers to build even better solutions in the future.
What Makes a Great User Interface?
At the heart of great UI design is a deep understanding of what truly creates value for the customer. That’s not something you can figure out alone; it requires collaboration across the entire product organization.
In my view, a good UI is above all intuitive. It should guide the user naturally and help them work efficiently, without needing a lot of training. But building that kind of experience doesn’t happen in isolation since it takes continuous collaboration with our users. Interviews, user testing, and real feedback are incredibly valuable. They help us pinpoint what actually makes a difference in people’s day-to-day work.

How We Use Customer Feedback
Customer feedback, feature requests, and everyday challenges are central to this entire project. We’re using these insights to build a Severa that’s an even better, more practical tool.
The first step to getting involved is joining our beta program, where customers get early access to new features and can directly influence development with their feedback.
We take feedback seriously. It helps us form hypotheses, test them, and evaluate what truly moves product development forward. Not every piece of feedback results in a change however every insight helps us prioritize and make better decisions.
And yes, customer feedback is already shaping the new user interface.
Collaboration at Every Level
As a Product Manager, coordinating a project like this is one of the most challenging aspects of my role. It requires a structured approach and constant, open communication.
This redesign isn’t the work of one person — it’s the result of collaboration across a broad team of experts. Designers and developers turn ideas into real, functional features. Their work ensures that the final product reflects both vision and feedback. Meanwhile, marketing, customer support, and sales bring the voice of the customer into the process and help make sure we’re solving the right problems. My job is to keep everything aligned — to ensure open communication and a shared vision throughout the project.
Where We Can Be Flexible — And Where We Cant
During a project like this, some things are flexible. Timelines can shift, and implementation details can change. But there’s one thing we never compromise on: customer value.
At Severa, we always keep our focus on the users and their experience. Everything we do is aimed at preserving — and increasing — the value we deliver to our customers.
Want to Be Part of the Journey?
We’d love for you to help shape the future of Severa.
The UI redesign is a journey we’re taking together with our users. If you’d like early access to new features and a chance to directly influence the product, we invite you to join our beta program.
Together, we can build a better Severa — one that truly supports your daily work.
